After watching news about AN0M - Just a reminder for anyone serious about their privacy and internet security; especially those that are doing things that not exactly legal / or not above board in your region.

The below is some advice i would like to share from personal experiences and from friend's who had experiences that are relevant

DON'T ASK ME HOW TO DO THIS... PLEASE CHECK GOOGLE

Instant messenger
a) SIGNAL - set auto delete of messages to 1 minute;
b) TELEGRAM - use secret chat and auto delete after 1 minute
c) Don't save chats, don't save images on your phones.
d) For all SIGNAL / TELEGRAM accounts, use a phone number that is NOT from the country you are in. If you are in USA, get a sim card (you can get this easily- just check google) for a country that is like in Africa. Then register using this number and then dispose the sim card and change around every few months or so.
e) DON'T USE WHATSAPP, VIBER <- ESPECIALLY THIS

Computer
a) FILEVAULT - enable this on all your MAC computers
b) BITLOCKER - enabled this on all your WINDOWS computers
c) ENCRYPTFS - enable this on LINUX web servers
d) use a password > 10 characters long
e) don't write passwords down on paper
f) use BOXCRYPTOR to encrypt your data on ICLOUD. <--- seriously
g) have a time out of less than 1 minute or a short cut for instant lock. About 7 years ago, there was that dark web market owner who killed himself in Thailand. Canadian guy (ALPHABAY OWNER) and he was living it high with tons of millions. He didn't have the time to even close the laptop lid before they busted his door and restrained him, while his computer was now open free for the taking as they gather all information while he was restrained.

Phones
a) use a password > 10 characters long
b) don't use biometrics for password control
c) ensure encryption is enabled always
d) use an app pin on each app, gallery
e) when going to shady places; make sure your phone is OFF
f) if you need a phone, use a CLEAN PHONE that has never called any of your contacts before, clean sim card that has never been used in your dodgy phone or mixed between phones; you can be tracked by your IMEI and telecom company can track even without internet enabled
g) turn off all location services.
h) use a VPN always - there is a function to block all traffic unless it's on; and not one of those crappy providers who keep logs. Use expressvpn.
i) Don't send SMS or call on STANDARD PHONE
j) Don't use smart lock that unlocks when you are at home
k) Don't use google on your phone.

Email
a) use an encrypted email provider. I have suspicions on protonmail not being as secured as it claims. Just like what's in the news about an0m, I reckon it's a similar scam, but need more reading to be sure. READ about the Belarus bomb threat and that a protonmail screenshot was shown from the view point of the bomber's account on protonmail.
b) delete emails that are not important or very sensitive that could incriminate you.

House care
a) Don't leave money at home; when they knock - this will magically disappear
b) Don't leave jewellery at home; when they knock - this will also magically disappear
c) Don't leave your international passport at home - give it to your mum or someone else to mind; it will be used to restrict your escape if needed
d) Don't leave anything illegal at home
e) IF YOU MUST HAVE STUFF AT HOME - secure stuff in a secret location that's not known by people. Fake walls, fake heaters, panels under the sofa. There was a guy on the news recently who had $7million supposedly found under the garage concrete floor. How is it possible for someone to know this, unless some how someone opened their mouth or the person who did the job to hide the stuff under the floor (especially in concrete) opened his mouth or caved in when asked. Basically do things yourself and don't tell anyone.
f) DO NOT KEEP documents, receipts, anything that relates to questionable items, or locations like rental agreements where you keep your less than legal stuff. These include ID CARDS, locker keys, etc...

People
a) Don't tell your family what you do
b) Don't tell your friends what you do
c) Don't talk on the phone on anything that is dodgy
d) Don't listen to people who say you are paranoid
e) Don't talk or tell your significant other anything you do too... if they start getting angry or start saying your effing someone and that's why you are blah blah... reconsider going MGTOW

Attitude
a) Take worst case scenario as the most likely scenario
b) Don't put things off until tomorrow. If you have dodgy shit at your house, and you got away with it for x period of time - don't just assume that tomorrow will be okay too.... Remove immediately. The door knocking starts any time, and likely when you are sleeping at 4am.
c) Have a random routine.
d) Don't meet or talk to people in your own house. They can listen through walls easily.
e) Don't use facebook, instagram etc.

Cars
a) Don't drive to dodgy locations in your own car
b) Go in an uber and walk a little bit to the place where you keep things / or hide things
c) If you ignored point (a), and you have a dash cam, well not hard to watch the dash cam where you go too. They have GPS tracking devices and as mentioned above, not having internet they can still track on your IMEI and phone number. So always need a fresh sim and fresh phone and anything dodgy is 100% OFF when not needed. Even that 1 second of just checking emails with the understanding that nobody will do anything or nobody has done anything for x period of time; will be the critical piece that allows them to build a case and further collect shit on you

Money
a) Pay in cash always
b) Buy ready made bank accounts from stealth sites that specialise in paypal, ebay, bank accounts.
c) Receive money in these accounts, and withdraw cash from the ATM daily, then deposit to legit bank accounts.
d) Don't keep the "anonymous" bank accounts on your body or at your house, retrieve when needed. This is evidence
e) Use bitcoin but don't keep keys anything like that at your house.
f) A bank safety box won't help you. They will find it's linked to you and you'll get raided there too.

The issue most people have - is comfort and the I am invincible mentality. Combined with laziness and lack of awareness.... BOOM... Open up and next thing you know, 30 officers are going through your stuff; collecting and stealing. Anything they find... you'll get charged and arrested. Make sure there is nothing to be found so you will be charged.

ALSO if you feel that something is not right... you notice the same people around or you simply have that feeling in your gut.... IMMEDIATELY CLEAN UP... NOT TOMORROW, IMMEDIATELY.

I'm sure there are more... let us know... I am willing to learn and improve myself. Somethings have to be done safely and sometimes over the top.

LASTLY - the police are not your friend. Don't open your mouth. You cannot convince them that you are innocent. When taken in or questioned, just keep quiet. Nothing more needed... the more you talk, the more you'll be fucked over.

Alexandre Cazes: Who was the AlphaBay founder and how did authorities catch him?

Canadian Alexandre Cazes was a young IT whiz who said he specialised in everything from web development to encryption services.

The 25-year-old suspected founder of dark net marketplace AlphaBay was arrested earlier this month on behalf of the United States in Thailand, and apparently took his life a week later while in Thai custody, the Justice Department said.

He faced charges relating to narcotics distribution, identity theft, money laundering and related crimes.

While still a teenager, Cazes was believed to have started his first company, EBX Technologies, selling computers and helping small businesses set up their websites.

His IT nous was clear to see; authorities say they have traced him to as far back as 2008, posting advice on a tech forum on how to remove a virus from a digital photo.

Cazes grew up near Montreal and his family said he was a genius.

"He never smoked a cigarette, never used drugs."

But Cazes was soon to put his IT skills to a sinister use.

According to US prosecutors, EBX Technologies was a front company to, "justify his banking activity and substantial cryptocurrency holdings".

Cazes, 25, moved to Thailand about seven or eight years ago and in September 2014 is alleged to have founded AlphaBay, which was soon to become the world's biggest dark net market.

Until its seizure by US and European authorities, AlphaBay was 10 times bigger than the infamous Silk Road and traded in everything from drugs and chemicals to weapons and fake IDs.

Living the high-life in Thailand

Known to some as the DeSnake, Cazes was married to a Thai woman, who is believed to be pregnant.

He was living the high-life in Thailand, driving around in $1 million Lamborghini, among other luxury cars, and owning multiple properties.

"He was a computer expert involved with international transactions of bitcoins," Major General Soontorn Chalermkiat, a spokesman for Thailand's Narcotics Suppression Bureau, told news agency AFP.

He also had assets in Cyprus, Liechtenstein, Antigua and Barbuda and Switzerland.

According to court documents, AlphaBay's annual sales were in the hundreds of millions of dollars and Cazes was making his money from commissions.

Earlier this month, authorities began closing in on Cazes and he was arrested in Bangkok on July 5 by Thai police.

At the time of his arrest, Thai police found his laptop open and logged into the server that hosted the AlphaBay website.

During the search of his laptop, a document was discovered titled Total Net Worth, listing his assets under categories including cash and cryptocurrencies.

By his own assessment, his net worth totalled $US23,033,975.

Brought undone by own mistake

It appears Cazes was ultimately brought undone by his own mistake when left his personal email address visible online.

During investigations, authorities found [email protected] in the header of emails sent to users of AlphaBay who had forgotten their passwords.

They were able to eventually trace that address to their man, Alexandre Cazes.

Cazes was being held in a cell at Bangkok's Narcotics Suppression Bureau and, just hours before he was due to meet prosecutors for talks over his extradition to the US, was found dead.

He was said to have committed suicide.
