A number of randomized control trials have been conducted to examine the effects of ACEi and ARBs on skeletal muscle function in older people. Results have been mixed but only 1 previous systematic review has attempted to synthesize these data.19 This systematic review was conducted in 2015 and included only 4 studies. Since then, a number of other studies have been published. The aim of this analysis was, therefore, to conduct an up-to-date and thorough systematic review of the effect of ACE inhibitors and angiotensin receptor blockers on both endurance and strength performance in older people.
