View Full Version : Does extending a Deca blast to 20 weeks actually pay off or is 16 the sweet spot?

20 weeks with Deca in the stack is the only sensible approach. I ran 16-week Deca cycles for years thinking I was being efficient. When I extended to 20 weeks the difference in final muscle quality and the way strength held up through the last 4 weeks told me everything. The effective window with Deca at 16 weeks is 12 weeks because of build-up time. At 20 weeks you get 16 effective weeks. That is a 33 percent increase in the working duration of the most important compound in the stack. Do the 20 weeks.

16 weeks is right if you are running test with a short oral. 20 weeks is right if Deca or EQ is in the stack. The maths are straightforward. Deca takes 4 weeks to reach blood levels. On a 16-week cycle you get 12 effective weeks. On a 20-week cycle you get 16 effective weeks. That extra month of Deca at working blood levels is not marginal. It is a different cycle. Anyone running Deca at 16 weeks and wondering why results were not what they expected - this is your answer.

The compound-specific argument for 20 weeks is the correct framing. Running test with a fast oral? 16 weeks is plenty. Running test plus EQ or Deca? The maths clearly favour 20 weeks. EQ in particular - the community consistently reports the best results from weeks 8-15 and beyond. Cutting an EQ cycle at 16 weeks is cutting it right as the compound hits its peak window. Makes no sense when you lay it out that way.

Running EQ in my current stack and the 20-week argument is why I planned it that way from the start. Read enough experience reports to know that assessing EQ before week 12-14 is pointless. The compound builds slowly and delivers in the back half of a long run. Planning 20 weeks from the start rather than starting at 16 and extending means the AI protocol and supply are sorted upfront. Anyone running EQ and considering cutting it short at 16 weeks - you will leave the best part of the cycle on the table.

If deca is in the stack you want 20 weeks. The math on effective blood level duration makes a strong case for it. 16 weeks is fine for a test-only cycle but with a slow compound you are leaving significant gains in the last 4 weeks.

If you are running Deca in the stack, 20 weeks is the only option that makes sense mate. The math on effective blood level duration is clear. 16 weeks on Deca gives you maybe 12 effective weeks once you account for the build-up time.

Planning my off-season blast and can't decide whether to run 16 or 20 weeks. Stack is Test E 600, Deca 400, starting a Dbol kickstart for weeks 1-4. The 16-week option feels like I'm cutting Deca short given how long it takes to get going. But 20 weeks is a meaningful commitment when you factor in recovery time after. Anyone actually run both and found the extra month adds something concrete?

The compound-specific argument for 20 weeks is what most people miss. If there is no slow ester in the stack then 16 weeks is fine and extending just adds suppression time for no real gain. If Deca or EQ is the primary anabolic then the maths genuinely favours the longer run.

Running EQ this cycle and going 20 weeks was never a question for me. You get maybe 10-12 effective weeks out of a 16-week EQ run once the build-up time is factored in. Stretch it to 20 weeks and suddenly you're getting 14-16 weeks where the compound is actually working at full blood levels. The maths just works out better for slower esters and cutting the cycle short feels like leaving the best part on the table.

The 20-week argument only makes sense if you have a slow compound in the stack. Running Test E only for 20 weeks versus 16 is not going to produce meaningfully different results - you are just extending the recovery burden. But if Deca or EQ is in there the maths actually work out. Deca especially, you get your 3-4 weeks of build-up and then 12 effective weeks on a 16-week run. A 20-week run gives you 16 effective weeks. For Deca that is a 33% increase in productive cycle time for 4 extra weeks of duration. That is actually worth doing.

The Deca case is the clearest example of where the extra 4 weeks actually earns its keep. Most guys who run Deca at 16 and then try 20 weeks say the same thing - they just wish they had done it sooner.

The EQ point is spot on. Running it to 16 weeks you're basically just hitting the window where it gets good and then pulling it. Anyone who said EQ did nothing for them and cut at 12-14 weeks genuinely didn't run it long enough to get an answer. That build-up phase is real, I didn't feel anything meaningful from EQ until around week 10 on my first run with it. If you're using long esters or slow compounds the math just works differently than a short ester oral blast.
