View Full Version : Half life calculations for long esters - why your peak is not when you think

Good explanation. I had exactly this experience - judged my first test e cycle at week 3 and thought something was wrong. Went back and read the pharmacokinetics and realised I just needed to wait. By week 5 everything kicked in properly. Patience is the underrated skill in this hobby.

The steady state math is something I explain to newer guys constantly. The question I hear most is why does test e feel weak at week 3 and the answer is always the same - it has not stabilized yet. Twice weekly pinning and patience is all it takes.

The EQ half life point is the one that needs to be hammered home more. 14 days. If you are running a 16 week cycle with EQ and starting it at week 1, you are only getting meaningful levels for roughly 7 to 8 weeks. Front load or run longer - those are the only rational options.

I built a pharmacokinetics spreadsheet for the compounds I run regularly. Test E, test C, and deca modeled out to steady state. The visual of seeing blood levels stabilize over time makes the patience easier to maintain. Twice weekly pinning reduces the peak trough swing significantly in the model.

The steady state timing is what changed how I plan cycles. Used to wonder why I did not feel anything for the first few weeks. Understanding the half life math and knowing exactly when to expect the compound to be working made the whole experience less stressful.

Good breakdown. The EQ half life is the one that trips people up most. 14 days means it takes until week 8 or 9 to truly stabilize. Guys running 12 week EQ blasts are basically running it for 3 weeks at proper levels and then coming off. Makes no sense.

The half life math should be required reading before anyone orders their first compound. Every question about why test e is not working at week 2 or why EQ disappoints at week 6 comes down to not understanding this. Good post.

The twice weekly pinning for stable levels is something I push hard on anyone asking about test e. Once a week pinning is lazy and creates unnecessary fluctuation. The trough before the next pin is where mood issues and libido problems happen. Pin Monday Thursday and the problem goes away.

The two-compartment pharmacokinetic model for test enanthate actually shows peak concentration at 24 to 48 hours post injection with a biexponential decline. The 4.5 day half life figure is a simplification - the true elimination follows a more complex curve. The practical implication for stable levels remains the same: twice weekly pinning minimizes peak-trough variance significantly.

The community consistently misunderstands peak blood levels for long esters. Test E has a half life of roughly 4.5 days. After a single injection you peak at about 24 to 48 hours then decline. With weekly pinning you build to a steady state after approximately 4 to 5 half lives - so around 3 weeks. This is why you do not feel test e properly for weeks 1 and 2. If you pin twice weekly the fluctuation is halved and steady state is reached with less variability. EQ at 14 day half life takes 6 to 8 weeks to stabilise. The implication: frontloading is pharmacologically rational for long esters, not just bro science.

The half life explanation finally makes sense to me after reading this. I was confused about why experienced members kept saying to wait before assessing a compound. The steady state math explains it clearly. Saving this post to share with a friend who is planning his first cycle.

This explains so much. I was getting frustrated at week 3 thinking my test e was underdosed. It was not. It just had not stabilized yet. Wish I had read this before starting. Would have saved a lot of unnecessary worry.

The twice weekly pinning for stable levels point is key. Guys running Test E once a week have bigger peaks and troughs, more E2 fluctuation, harder to manage AI. Twice weekly smooths everything out. Same total dose, better experience.

The biexponential elimination curve BERLINER mentions is the technically accurate model. For practical purposes the simplified half-life calculation is sufficient for planning dosing schedules. The important clinical implication remains: steady state is not reached until 4 to 5 half lives have elapsed, and any assessment before that point is premature.

The EQ half life explanation is the one I needed a year ago. Was running EQ in a 14 week blast wondering why week 6 felt underwhelming. Makes perfect sense now - it had barely stabilised before I was already in the back half of the cycle.

The ester half life explanation is particularly important for GH peptides too. CJC without DAC has a half life of minutes. CJC with DAC extends this to days. GHRP-2 and ipamorelin are gone within hours. Understanding this is what separates people who get results from peptides from those who do not dose them correctly.

This is the post that should be pinned. The number of times I see guys say test e is not working at week 3 is unreal. It has not stabilised yet. The half life maths explains everything. Pin twice a week, wait 4 weeks, then assess.

Never thought about it this way before. So on a 12 week test e blast the compound is not even at proper steady state until week 3 and you are already a quarter of the way through. Makes the case for either frontloading or just running longer blasts.

The steady state explanation is the one beginners need to hear. So many guys judge a long ester compound at week 3 and think it is not working. Test e at week 3 is still building. EQ at week 3 is barely started. If you do not understand the pharmacokinetics you will either quit compounds early or stack too much trying to feel something.
