Ran my first blast last year at 35. Test e 500mg split Monday/Thursday, 14 weeks. Put on about 14 pounds, kept 10 of it after PCT. The thing nobody tells you properly is how much diet matters. Appetite goes through the roof and it is very easy to eat like a pig and pile on fat with the muscle. I was fairly disciplined but could have been better. For anyone starting - get bloods done before, midway, and after. Know your baseline. The results are good but don't go in thinking it does the work for you.

Good post. I am 28 and have been sitting on the fence for about a year. The bloodwork first advice is something I keep seeing and it does make sense. Nice to hear a realistic account rather than someone saying they put on 25lb of pure muscle. 10lb kept sounds honest and achievable.

Good write up. I was 28 for my first and I would do it again but your point about diet is spot on. Most lads who waste a cycle do so because they are not eating right. Gear does not magically build muscle - it lets you recover faster and grow more from the work you are already doing. Do the work first.

Started at 32 myself. Similar experience - diet is the limiting factor every single time. On gear your hunger goes up, your body can use more food, but if you do not stay disciplined you just get fat and strong rather than lean and strong. Still made good progress but looking back I would have leaned out properly first before blasting.

35 is a great time to start honestly. Natural test is declining, you have the discipline that comes with age, and you actually know how to train by that point. I have seen kids in their early 20s waste cycles because they have no idea what they are doing in the gym. Experience matters more than age.

I start at 38 years old. Also test only first cycle. Your advice about bloodwork is very important. I did not know my baseline before and I wish I did. My doctor now knows I use TRT and we monitor together which is much better situation. Older start is not a problem, recovery is maybe slower but the discipline is usually better.

Started at 29 myself. Similar situation, years of reading and second guessing. The diet thing hit me too. I put on 20 lbs but only kept about 8. Half of what I gained was just food and water. Second cycle I was much more careful with the surplus and kept a higher percentage. Live and learn.

This is helpful to read. I am 26 and planning my first cycle soon. The diet point is something I need to focus on. I have been eating at maintenance basically and I know I need to be more disciplined before I start. Thank you for the honest write up.

First cycle at 36 here. Test e 400mg for 12 weeks. Kept about 12 pounds after PCT. The discipline thing you mention is real - I think older guys generally eat more intentionally and that helps. Knew my maintenance calories, hit a controlled surplus, and was not just eating everything in sight.

Starting at 35 is physiologically sound. Endogenous testosterone begins declining meaningfully from around 30. Exogenous testosterone at that stage has a well-documented risk-benefit profile when bloodwork is monitored. The advice to establish baseline bloods before beginning is particularly important - knowing your pre-cycle lipids, haematocrit, and hormone levels makes the mid-cycle and post-cycle data actually interpretable.
