16 weeks vs 20 weeks for a serious off-season blast, does the extra month actually add anything worthwhile?

Off-season blast coming up. Running test e and deca. Planning 16 weeks but a couple of experienced guys at my gym say with deca you really need 20 to get the full benefit out of it. The slow ester argument makes sense to me but I am not sure the extra 4 weeks adds much after the compound has already been running for months. Is the extra month returning something meaningful or does the extended recovery time offset whatever additional gains you squeeze out?

20 weeks if deca is in the stack. The argument is solid - deca at 16 weeks gives you maybe 12 effective weeks after blood levels build. At 20 weeks you get 16 effective weeks and that extra month is where the compound actually earns its place. If it were test only I would say 16 is fine. With deca the maths support going longer.

I did a 20-week test and deca blast last year. The difference in the final 4 weeks compared to where I usually stop a 16-week run was noticeable. Fuller, more joint relief, and the gains were still coming not stalling. Recovery was longer as expected - waited 3 weeks after last pin before PCT. Worth it for me but you need to plan the timeline properly before you start.

20 weeks minimum for any cycle where deca or EQ is a primary anabolic. These are not compounds you run for 16 weeks and call it done. At 16 weeks you are stopping right when they hit their stride. The recovery extension is real but it is factored into the planning from the start. If you cannot commit to the full timeline including recovery do not use slow esters.

Running my first deca cycle at the moment, 16 weeks planned. After reading this thread I am genuinely reconsidering whether to extend to 20. The argument about effective weeks once blood levels build makes sense. I will see how I feel at week 14 and make the call then based on how the compound is still progressing. Thanks for the perspective.
